New President at ABDI

 

Reginaldo Arcuri replaces Alessandro Teixeira, who account for the function of president of the Agência de Promoção de Exportações e Investimentos do Brasil - APEX-Brasil (Investment and Export Promotion Business Office).

 

Reginaldo Braga Arcuri was named on June 14, to exercise function of president of the Agência Brasileira de Desenvolvimento Industrial – ABDI (Brazilian Industrial Development Agency), an entity responsible for articulation, promotion and execution of the Industrial, Technological and Foreign Trade Policy of the Country.

The new president is natural from Juiz de Fora , Minas Gerais. Graduated in law, he is an expert in History of Brazil, licensed professor and former coordinator of the course of History of the Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora (UFJF). In this institution, he was also a member of the Education, Research and Extension Council as well as of Education Chamber Council. In addition, he is the coordinator of the International and Institutional Relations.

Arcuri was Development Secretary of Juiz de Fora and, in the Government of the State of Minas Gerais , he worked in the State Social and Economic Development Councils, in the Housing and Sanitation, and was a permanent member of the Sectorial chambers. He also actuated as Secretary of State of the Minas Gerais Industry and Commerce, exercising a significant function in the organization of the 3 rd . Reunião de Ministros de Comércio das Américas (ALCA) (Meeting of the America's Commerce Ministers), held in 1996, in Belo Horizonte.  He was also the main member of the Conselho Fiscal (Fiscal Council) of BNDES, between 2000 and 2003, and he integrated other Councils of the Federal Government structure.

Between 1999 and 2002, Reginaldo Arcuri was Secretário de Desenvolvimento da Produção do Ministério do Desenvolvimento, Indústria e Comércio Exterior (MDIC) (Secretary of Production Development of the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade. He led international trade missions of Brazil and was granted medals such as Medalha da Inconfidência, offered by the Government of the State of Minas Gerais and the Comenda da Ordem do Rio Branco. In 2003, he was named Administrative director of the Mercosul Secretary, located in Montevideo , function he exercised through 2005.

Recently Arcuri was president of the Instituto de Desenvolvimento Integrado de Minas Gerais (INDI) (State of Minas Gerais Integrated Development Institute), which objective is to foment the State development.
